If the thought of wearing huge, Mary Poppins style, pleats is laughable to you, take the pleat trend and give it a subtle makeover. Today I style my micro pleated Topshop top and give the oversized pleats option the cold shoulder...
Top: Topshop (Blue top sold out, but white one available from Topshop here)
Skirt: Cotton On (Darker wash here on sale for $10!)
Bag: DKNY (Get it here)
Shoes: Schutz (Similar here)
Sunglasses: Tory Burch (Get here)
Hat: Choies (H & M has a similar one here)
Pleats scare me. Ok, not as much as Hunstman spiders do (I dare you to Google them), but the thought of adding huge bunches of frills and pleats is seriously daunting to me.
Having seen pleats rock the runway and having majorly drooled over Michael Lo Sordo's incredible pleated creations at Australian Fashion Week last year, I was determined to give this pretty and feminine trend a try.
The one problem? I live in a casual, tropical city, where walking down the street in a huuuge poof of pleats practically equates to having a light up moron sight on your head.
Enter this beautiful Topshop cold shoulder top! With a micro-pleated texture that is soft and quirky, I can rock this gorgeous trend in a more casual light. Unfortunately, the cobalt top is sold out, but there's a rather snazzy white one still available in Topshop here. **Bookmarks for future stress-induced shopping haul**
Although I may be keeping the theatrical over-sized pleats out of my wardrobe at the moment, give me a micro pleated texture or a pleated accent and I'll be a very happy chappy!
What do you think of pleats?
