7 Trends Hot From New York Fashion Week

Four days into the first show of this seasons four biggies, let's take a look at the hottest trends coming soon to a wardrobe near you!

Hello sailor! Grab your stripes and nautical patterns from the back of that wardrobe ladies- it's making a comeback! Victoria Beckham and Diane Von Furstenburg go classic with black and white stripes, whilst adding a tailored twist. Looking for something different? Check out Mara Hoffman's cute bird prints, Nicole Miller's palm prints and Trina Turk's 70s-Miami-style flashback.

 Two Piece
Our favorite trend of the season is here to stay: team your fave crop top with a matching print skirt. Stibi and Prabal Gurung's silky textures make this trend accessible in the office.

Off The Shoulder
The designers have been showcasing a variety of off-the-shoulder necklines. Tanya Taylor and Herve Leger opt for a cut out 'cold shoulder' look, while Nanette Lepore bares all.

Drop Waists
This season the flapper-favorite waist linegets a modern makeover. Monique Luhllier takes a classic flapper print and flares it it to create a low lantern shape, whereas BCBG Maz Azria goes for a relaxed California vibe.

 Soft Minimalism
The past two seasons have been ruled by a nonchalant 90s minimalism a la Kate Moss for Calvin Klein. This season, designers have taken this and mixed it with silky nightwear for a softer, dressier appeal. Low necklines added to the sex appeal at Chadwick Bell, Tess Gibberson and BCBG Max Azria. Opt for nude, earthy tones in soft, lush fabrics.

Swinging 60s
Embrace plenty of colour with a 60s style twist. Trina Turke's orange playsuit looks like something taken straight out of Woodstock, while Lyn Devn's two piece suit wouldn't look out of place on a young Twiggy.

Fringing for Spring 2014 is more understated then in previous statements. Use fringes as embellishments as seen at Nicholas K and Thakoon or go for a slightly frayed look, like the layered tops at Creatures of Comfort.
